Ok, I had my first incubator hatch this morning (around 8AM) as some of you know! Unfortunately, this little early-bird is still the only one out so far. It's looking a lot more fluffy, but it's back still looks a little slick to me. I don't know ... never done this before lol. She (I hope
) keeps taking naps and talking to me, and calling to the others to hurry up. Problem is that when she wakes up from the cat-naps she kinda thrashes about and knocks the neighboring eggs that are still working on their pips. Seems like she's picking on the last to pip the most lol!
I know that she can stay in the bator for a while without worrying about her ... but now I'm worried that she'll knock the other eggs so much it will hurt them. It's a very small incubator. I'm also very paranoid about opening it up to take her out and messing up the humidity/temp for the others. I'm trying to find the middle ground but I'm a anxious first-timer.
How many hours do you guys feel safe leaving a duckling in the incubators?
