How long to pen?

I have single peacock (his mate died, but that's for another thread :b) and I kept them both penned up for the first few months of their lives(I hatched them myself this past spring) and after his mate died, I let him start to free range. He stays on the property, (as far as I know) and hangs out with the chickens pecks around. He is such a nice little peacock, with a good personality and only about as skittish as a chicken. I read on the other thread that peacocks can run away if you don't keep them penned in long enough. How long is long enough?
One of the best parts is, I got him (in egg form) for free!

I think you are past the point of any concern! I would find him a mate before next year, though.

Yeah we I think we are gonna try to get him a girl when we can find one not too expensive. Thanks! Just makin sure cuz I don't want to lose 'im! I love having that little guy around!
