How long will eggs be fertile after rooster is removed?

Can anyone tell me how long eggs will continue to be fertile after the rooster has been removed?

I have read it's about 3 to 4 weeks.

I have tested it, normal fertility for the first two weeks, 3rd week some fertile, 4th week occasional fertility after that none.
