Whats the average life span for Roos an hens. Or is it breed perticular

They can live into their teens. Some have health problems that cause them to die at a much younger age, get killed by predators or just get culled for one reason or another by their owner. Some get fed a better diet than others and that helps their health and life expectancy, too. I think some blood lines of chickens are also healthier than others, more than it being about a particular breed.

I just got rid of a bunch of hatchery hens who were 4-8 years old last fall and they all still layed, although the elder ones not very much. Then, last night, went out to the coop and a similar aged roo (I think he was six or so) was just DRT* under the roost. He'd not been acting off or anything that I'd noticed. I'd go with the five to seven years as an average. Predators seem to take a LOT of birds.
