I am getting 6 sex links, (my first). How long should I keep them confined before letting them free range?

It seems that many people recommend keeping the kiddos in the coop till they start laying. That way they are less likely to lay in the yard

and hide their nests and so they know where to roost at night. That is what I plan to do anyhow. I am sure others will chime in with their advice. Will they have a fenced run until they are old enough to be outside?

I waited until they started laying so they knew where to lay. Once I let them free range I never had a problem with them laying anywhere but the nest boxes.
