How loud are male coturnix quails when compared to male chickens (roosters)?

My neighbor is against me having roosters, so I think I'll be safe then with quails. Thanks!
Best to my knowledge there is no ordinances that prohibit you from owning Male Quail (roosters). I have 30 or so roosters and they sound off all through the day. Mine are kept in our garage and my neighbors wouldn't know I had them if I didn't give them eggs. Gotta bribe them every now and then lol.
The roosters are louder than wild birds but not as bad as Chicken Roosters. They talk when you turn lights on, they talk when you turn music on. but its not annoying.. Good Luck.

My two coturnix roos sound like little turkeys when they crow. it's such an odd sound lol. But the volume is a small fraction of what chicken roosters make. So far at about 4 weeks old, they don't crow often.
The two or three persistent screamers in my newborn chicks group seem to be a bigger noise concern. To me anyways, they seem as loud as the roos, just super high pitched.
I tried picking the chicks up every time they screamed as a type of deterrent, but that really didn't make any difference lol. Now I just let them get it out of their systems.

Most of my coturnix roos are about 1/4 the volume of a chicken rooster, but just like people, volume varies. We certainly have louder wild birds out there, for sure. I've had a few roos that were competing for some kind of singing prize. (They made excellent broth, by the way.) I've also had a few roos that rarely utter a peep, let alone crow.

If you get a loud one and your neighbor is sensitive, you may opt to cull them or give them away earlier rather than later.

When I had 20 hens and 6 roos, the roos were loud and annoying! The males held call competitions starting at 4 or 5 am and not stopping until 10 or 11pm. Drove me nuts. Now I have 1 roo and 2 hens it's quite as a church.
