How low for heat plate

They seem content all sprawled under it, but unless they stand, their backs don't touch the plate at this height. Should it go lower so it touches when they are laying down?

Nope. All good. What you can do is make the back end lower than the front end, but they look quite comfortable like you have it.
 
Do they spend all their time under it? It's normal for them to like being under there, but if they barely ever come out, it might be too cold for them in the rest of the brooder.
 
They just got home. Had a grand time running around, eating, drinking and then fell asleep standing up, so shoved them under to let them figure it out. They stood up for a bit then moved to the middle and kerplopped. They are in my office and it is currently 75in here, so rest of brooder should be good for them to run around.
I was thinking about making on end lower, so will likely go ahead with that idea.
