I have eggs in the mail for Sylvia our white silkie. I have not experienced a broody silkie before. Our timid, slightly flighty pullet turned into a bear overnight!!!
I mean I know that they get more feisty with the broodiness but I was surprised at the strength of her reaction when I put my hand under her!!! I was really spoiled by my cochin bantie who never really pecked us. But, it is also nice to know she is so protective, so I will just wear my gardening gloves next time I have to touch her! It is a good thing she missed when she tried to get me as I think she would have left a bleeding stump.... LOL Anyway, I was wondering how many eggs she will handle, if there are extras I will put them in the incubator. I was thinking that if there are any culls in the eggs under her I may be able to get the whole lot under her or else I will just insert the chicks as they hatch... what do you silkie pros think?
