I have a 5 day old chick that is no eating or drinking. I know many times chick don't make it but I still feel like I have to try. She is feisty when I hold her but otherwise just sits in one spot. I have separated her from the others and have been giving her small amounts of vitamin/probiotic water. I have also mixed a watery food mixture and have put that in a syringe. She will take it if I put it on her beak but I don't know how much she should be taking. Does anyone have any guidelines on amounts. An extensive Internet search has turned up nothing but more confusion on the matter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Feeling helpless

If there is no underlying illness, sometimes they just fail to thrive.
My latest batch had one of these. She just gave up.
What I did was carried her in a neckerchief around my neck for a couple of days, and I gave probiotic/vitamin water about every 20 minutes.
Whatever I could get her to take. I also gave raw egg yolk in the water, and used a baby bird hand feeding food mixed in the water. Also gave some nutridrench once a day.
After 48 hours she turned around and has been fine since. This post might be helpful in giving you ideas......https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/367608/how-i-help-weak-baby-chicks-to-survive-hope-it-is-helpful
In my case I put her back in the brooder at night. I use a brinsea eco-glow, so my brooder is dark and quiet at night, so I was not worried about her getting trampled.
Best of luck and I hope you can save her.
