how many chickens can i put in a 5x5 coop they can not walk around in my yard the city does'ent allow it so i have a have a little fenced area i already now i only need one rooster for that small of space

Is your yard fenced? What city do you live in? I have never heard of a city that wont allow chickens to freely roam someones yard. IS the 5x5 the run(area they can be outside? Or are you talking about them living inside a structure 100%?

By the way...

the 5x5 is the structure and a about a 10 buy 5 of fencing coming out of it for them able to walk around im having to wait till march to get my chicks from rural king and know i do not have a fenced in yard and my stepdad want really let them go around the yard

In my opinion 5-6 chickens tops. I like my chickens to be able to do more then spin in circles. Also with a smaller area like that they will strip that area of land clean of vegetation. If I were you once spring comes buy em a roll of grass sod. SHould only be like $2-4 and They will love you for it. Cheers mate!

I'd be concerned about the sod being treated with insect/herbicides.

I'd say limit it to 4 or 5 birds. It's better to have fewer happy, healthy, unstressed birds than more unhappy, disease-prone birds with behavioral issues.
