for standard fowl you divide the square footage of the coop by 4 and the square footage of the run by 10.

8x3=24 24/4=6 so your coop will hold 6 chickens
12x12=144 144/10=14.4 so your run will work for 14 chickens.

if you block the wind on the run you should be able to get by with 8 chickens easy enough.

another option would be to add a second coop with 32 square feet. (4x8 will work well).

you can double the figures for bantams.

Something to consider is whether these chickens will be allowed out at all or will they always be penned? If birds are not going to get out for any kind of free ranging or pasture time then I'd suggest fewer birds then recommended for the minimum space requirements.

They will get to free rang when I am home and Have access to the coop and run when I am at work and be looked up in the coop at night
