I should say broodies because when my mottled java, the actual broody, gets off the nest, Bluebell, our blue cochin, sits on the eggs until the java is done eating. I guess she senses how cold it is out there! She knows just when to get off the eggs, too, and let Jenny java take over again. I guess this is what you call job sharing or a temporary incubator!
Anyway, I was hoping to put 12 eggs under Jenny. Is that too many? I can bring her in the warm basement in a cage if I have to.
