how many eggs can you give a hen?

i have a light sussex hen who usually goes broody i always just give 4-6 eggs to her because im scared to over do her like i did with my welsummer who had 26 eggs under her and i cudnt take any away because i didnt no wich was wich, could i fit more then 8eggs under my light sussex hen?

Depends on bird size. Is your Light Sussex a HUGE hen from imported lines or a hatchery based hen?

A big girl I could trust a little over 12 eggs under.

An average girl I could trust 11 eggs under.

I had a medium-sized Buckeye that I just put 9 eggs under and she did great with them. Good luck!
