we have our first broodie, she has been sitting on her nest for about 3 days. today we made her a separate area and i plan on moving her tonight. i think she has 8 eggs under her, they are all silkie/frizzle eggs and i want to know if this is a good number. should i let her have more,or less, this is her first time going broodie so i want it to be a good experience.

well we just moved her, there where 7 eggs. i feel really bad right now, she really freaked out!! she wouldnt stay on the nest and was running around and i picked her up she made this screaming sound!! dd was crying and it was all i could do not to loose it. we put her back onto the nest and covered the door so she couldnt get out. i wish i would have just left her and moved everyone else. what should i do ?

She will figure it out soon enough. I never had trouble moving a broody, but sometimes they do raise the biggest stink. I only move them when the other birds can get behind them and "donate" to her cause. My current broody is in the back of a cat carrier so all is good.

thats why we had to move her she was in with all the other silkies and frizzles and the kept laying all over her!! for about 3 days i took the eggs not really knowing if she was laying or trying to sit,we are new to this, but after her sitting another 2or3 days we thought we would set her up in her own area. i have my fingers crossed that by morning she will be back on the eggs like nothing happened!!
