We are first time parents and were wondering how much egg yolk is to much for 13 chicks and what other treats can we give them per week?

No need to give them "just the yolk" You can boil or scramble the egg, mash it up, and give them the whole egg. I'd put it down, and after they've had their fill, remove it. Aim or 1 - 2 x/week. As far as other treats, have you provided grit? That's the most important thing you can do to ensure that they are able to digest what ever you give them. You can give them a real treat by giving them a plug of sod from your yard, as long as you've not used any insecticides/herbicides on it. Take a piece of sod about 6" square, and put it upside down in their brooder. They'll tear it to shreds and have a party! They'll get: some grit, some minerals, some little bugs, some greens, and a dust bath. But, most importantly, they'll get a good dose of bacteria to get their gut flora into healthy shape.

Thank you so much for all your helpful info and I can't wait to see them have a sod party and we do give them grit.
