How many hens per roo?

I am considering adding to my flock tomorrow... as of right now, I have 4 RIR and 3 Ameraucanas (one being a cockerel). I would like to get some Brahmas, possibly 4...
Is there a typical ratio, hen:rooster? If not, would 10:1 be okay? He will have his work cut out for him

Yes, they say 8-10 hens per rooster.

All the better to spread around the lovin'. More hens will result in less wear and tear on them. Understand that you should quarantine the new birds and that there will be strife and disruption of the pecking order upon their introduction to the flock.
