How many hens to one rooster?

I can't remember since its been awhile since I have had any birds but can someone tell me how many hens a roo can cover?

8-10 hens per rooster. I'd lean more towards 10 to prevent over-mating.

I've had a young healthy rooster keep 20 hens fertile easily. That declined as he aged and focused more on his favorites.
