how many nest boxes do i need per hen

i just started to build my coop, and i want to make sure i build enough nest boxes per hen ho many do i need?

1 nest box per 3 or 4 hens is fine.

so if i have 4-6 hens two nest boxes will be fine?

I have 11 hens and they all like to lay in the same nest. If that nest is pretty full they'll use a second one, but never a third. I kind of wasted my time building four!

That would be perfect. I have 4 nest boxes in my coop and 9 hens. They only use 2 of the boxes. The other two I have never found and egg in.

2 is probably 1 more than what they will use. I would give them the second one just in case one decides to go broody.
