how many nesting boxes per how many hens?

I have 8 hens and 2 boxes...............is that enough or do I need another box or two?

Thats plenty of nesting boxes, we had 7 hens when we started, and four nesting boxes, and they all used the same two nestingboxes, and ignored the others......

Chickens apply their social structure, ie, pecking order to almost everything. Building a pile of eggs or a clutch is just what they do. 7 or 8 eggs per nest is quite common. Figure 5 or 6 to 1 when planning and building, but don't be surprised to see them lay at the rate of 8 to 1.
