how many nesting boxes ...

I am going to have 8 hens. How many nesting boxes will I need?

This next question is off topic, but me and my husband have been curious about it. When there is an egg in the roost box will it prevent the hen from laying more eggs?

And when you say 3 nests, it is one large box with 3 divided sections, right? Sorry, totally out of my element here!

A nesting box should be 12"X12"X12". This is not my picture but they are great nesting boxes I have min 12 inches off the ground and stacked just like the photo. You should only need 2 boxes but you will find that almost all your hens will use the same box
