Hi guys!
Today Istarted building my aviary for my pigeons. It will be a 8’x6’x6’tall...
There will be at least two pairs in it, but I was wondering how many I could have in there?
I saw the 2-4 square feet per bird but that would be 12-24 pigeons and it’s not even thinkable lol
There will be a 3’x6’ section that will be covered of walls (there will be the nest boxes and food and water)
There will also have perches and some shelves
Thanks in advance! :)

An aviary is not the same thing as a loft. Aviary is where pigeons go to exercise, and chill in the pleasant outdoor environment.
Is the 3 x 6 additional to the aviary, or part of it???
So as I understand, the 3 x 6 would act as the loft portion.
I envision the combination as being good for about 10 pigeons.:idunno Overcrowding is not a good practice.
Do you intend to loft fly your pigeons once they are home-set, or just contain them inside aviary?
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:highfive:

Hi!
Yeah, the 3x6 is part of the aviary and it would act as the loft, yes...
They will not get out of the aviary.. They are not racers ^^

Hello there! I would agree with the 10 bird mark.

You can free fly any type of pigeon, but racers are the only ones you can take away and they will reliably come home. Free flying doesn't come without its risk, but it is definitely worth it!

If you have more questions about free flying, or anything in general, let us know.

I am not comfortable with free flying :(
I am too scared to loose them
