How many times do your drakes mate with your ducks a day

I have one khaki Campbell who mates constantly and one magpie drake who only mates with one hen (the other magpie) 1-2 times a day
Both are really sweet but unfortunately do not have enough hens for the khaki. So we have to sell/eat him. But right now he just freeranges all day with the other Drake.

I have 2 drakes and 9 hens.

In the morning, my drakes usually mate 2 - 3 times, but I’ve seen them get up to 5 in a row before. Each mating is with a different hen. After that, they calm down and will take awhile before considering mating again. I think all that time overnight out of water gets them worked up.

In all, I’d say they usually stick to maybe 4 or 5 a day.

i mean i think its to hard to tell how many times they mate in a day. i have never sat out and watched them for 24 hours LOL but i have 55 ducks and i bet the 7 drakes i have probably mate atleast 8 times each when i see em. so id almost double that.

Depends on the drakes and time of year. My current one I rarely see him try to mount his mate anymore, but he is 4-5 years old now. I lost all, but him and his favorite girl when the wind blew my steel door right off of the frame during a bad storm. The other drakes I had in the past I would say at least 3-4 times a day that I saw some of the feistier ones even more, but I never kept the feisty ones.

They’re still very quiet right now. They’ve been doing little peep-honks here and there, but no full honk quite yet. I can let you know once they get that honk, though. I’m curious myself how loud they will be.

@p4PaDuck x2 Hey, I’ve got an answer for you!

My African is perhaps a tad bit louder than my ducks. She honks a whole lot when she’s excited, saying hello, alarmed, etc. Otherwise, she’s fairly quiet. I don’t hear her as much as I thought I would.

My Buff’s “honk” isn’t like my African’s, it’s more comparable to a seagull’s cry She does it very rarely, though, maybe once or twice a day. 99% of the time, she is quiet, closer to the volume of a drake.
