My eggs are shipped and often many have loose air sacs so I always hatch in an egg carton. What I now do is put something under one edge of the carton. If I am hatching more than 12, then the same block is put in the middle with the edges of the cartons on it, like an inverted V. Then when turning, I just swap them, placing the right on the left, etc. w/out turning them around. I can then lay them flat if I want to by removing the block. I remove the block at lock down so the cartons are flat for hatching. Been working well for me.
Oh and I turn at least 3 times a day. Usually more often. I sort of do it when I think of it.
