How Many Watts?

That lamp in the picture above is the same thing I got a Wal Mart. Same company and all. Ceptin mine has a heavier gauge cord on it that makes it 660 watt. I think you would melt the shield with that much power though. Only thing I don't like about it is it does not have a shut off at the fixture. the cord end is not always that easy to reach if you have the brooder setting in the way of it. if you wanted to shut it off fast. well ain't necessarily going to happen.

Edit: okay so that link thing didn't work for squat. don't bother with it though TSC will get it taken care of anyway.

i'm setting up my brooder and i'm planning or was planning on using a similar style light but it does not have a porcelain socket, it's plastic. i wasn't planning on using a heat type bulb, just your typical incandescent 100w bulb.
i've used these lights 100's of times with no issues. but then again, i've never ran these lights 24hrs a day.
any reason why i shouldn't use the plastic socket lights?
