How much Corid solution should my cocci hen drink?

Hey guys -

There seems to be tons of threads about the correct solution ratios for Corid - however, I am curious as to how much my 8-week old wyandotte pullet needs to drink for the solution to be effective. She will take a few reluctant sips here and there, but I'm also trying to syringe-feed her the solution as she barely stays coherant enough to swallow. I've added some electrolytes to the Corid solution as I still can't get her to eat. It's been about 48 hours since she started showing symptoms of cocci, so I'm hoping our little girl will pull through.

Corid powder 1/2 tsp per gallon of water, Corid liquid 2 tsp per gallon of water. Treat all chicks for 5 days.do not give vitamins during treatment(interferes with medication)give vitamins after treatment.

I appreciate the response - however, I need to know how much of the solution my pullet needs to CONSUME in order for the treatment to be effective. Being as she doesn't drink very much with the disease, I'm trying to find a benchmark.

For Corid, 20% powder, mix 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon per gallon of water.

If you don't feel she is drinking enough, use the solution water to dampen her feed as well. If she has coccidiosis and is passing blood, hitting it head on is essential. This wet spring has seen a real outbreak here, like we've never seen before.

I might also mix a very small portion, say, 4 oz of water and put in just the tip of a teaspoon and stir. I'd probably administer this potent mixture via a dropper and hope to get an ounce of liquid in her.

I also find that raw milk, (something I do not have immediate access to), or yogurt really helps soothe the intestine. I'd try mixing some yogurt, with a wee touch of Corid, and see if she will eat it. Sometimes you have to stir in some cereal or feed to make a mush that they can/will eat.
