i am thinking about raising some meat birds for our local fair, but i was wanting to know how much feed 1 cornishX would eat in 1 day? i am planing on ordering the feed in bulk so i want to know how much to order.

They eat more and more as they get older. I went through 200lbs of feed for 12 CX roos, processed at 7 weeks. At the end, they would go through a 15lb feeder in a day. There's a chart about here somewhere that gives the average feed rate and total for them.

We use about 180 lbs / 12 4H broilers in six weeks to get ready for our fair, sometimes a little more, or less. Roughly 15 lbs of feed seems to produce an 8 1/2 - 9lb bird for us. I like to start at 30% protein and slowly wean them down to 23% by the end.

You would be pretty safe with 18 to 20 lbs of feed per bird.

ETA: That is for the duration.
