I lost a hen suddenly last week, and her hatch mate was a bit subdued. But over the last couple of days she has not appeared to eat or drink, so brought her in today and I thought she'd given up. But after I offered her egg yolk she seems a little better. Have yet to speak to the vet, but is there a safe amount to give her, or do I just give her while she's happy to eat?

She is not happy to be petted normally, but she allowed me to pick her up, and is happy snuggled on my lap.

Any wisdom out there?

I did look on Amazon for multivitamins to go in their water, but too many to know which would be the best for my flock.

I'm so sorry you lost two birds in such a short time. :hugs

I'd also like to know the answer to your question. I have given egg yolk to sick birds (when it's the only thing they'll eat), but have wondered how much is too much.

As for vitamins, I suggest picking up both Rooster Booster and Poultry Cell Nutri-drench. Rooster Booster is VERY vitamin heavy, so it needs to be used with caution. The Poultry Cell is a bit simpler and is good for perking up lethargic birds with a drop or two.
