I live on 2 acres with at least 50 acres of pasture around me that belongs to my neighbor and her loves my chickens using it and I give him as many eggs as he wants. They don't stay around my feeders but hid out under all my hedges around the house until around 3 in the evening that's when they go rooming over all the field, I've had problems with hawks in the past but got the idea of crows and put out 20 crow decoys I had stored and they've worked great so far.. When I spread out feed first thing in the morning which is a mixture of cracked corn and layer mesh they eat the cracked corn but leave the layer mesh for some reason. I've always versed them first thing in the morning when I let them out usually about 2lbs scattered out with the bucket feeders left out always...
