How much flax seed do you give?

Does anyone know how much flax seed to give chickens in order to make a difference in the Omega-3 content of the eggs? Can you just throw a handful in the feeder with the pellet feed or do you need a lot more??

I would just mix a little with the food, but there is a thread here somewhere on it try doing a search. Good luck.
