How much luck do you think I'd have sexing 4 week old Ameraucanas?!

Okay, I fold . Out of three hatches this year, we got THREE girls . A local hatchery has offered to let me look through their 4 week old Ameraucanas to see if I can pick out some females... Think my odds are pretty high at that point, or will we be in for more disappointment?!

Ameraucanas or Easter Eggers?
It would be a whole lot easier sexing EE at that age. You can go by feathering.
It's likely you'll be getting EE.
Which hatchery are you getting them from?

With my very first chicks I picked one of each, A chipmunk looking chick and a pretty puffy grayish chick. The pretty chick was a cockerel. We might be able to help with pics but they may be too young yet.

Some of the cockerels may be getting redder combs by that age. Obviously, do not choose them!

I think you're got a fair chance of getting some females, but might still bring home a few males by mistake.

I would choose the palest combs available (yellow/light pink, not red or bright pink), assuming the chicks look otherwise healthy. (If they have black or gray combs, then of course that advice is useless.)

Definitely purebred Ameraucanas I feel like she might also be able/willing to guide us towards the females, but obviously wouldn't make any guarantees....

Thank you, that's pretty much what I expected I've been able to tell with most of my EEs at that age, but haven't had experience with purebreds... She does have some pullets available in other breeds, so maybe I'll have to give up my Ameraucana dream for this year, and take the safe route.... We'll see

He isn’t a ‘rare’ clean faced - he’s an Easter Egger.

Your odds would be OK, just avoid colored combs.
