Yeah, true. It’s just that when hens eat a lot, their crop kind of “sticks out”

It's normal for the crops to stick out after they eat. Just like it's normal for your stomach to pop out after you eat. No food inside=empty and small. Food inside=full and big. As long as the crop is emptying overnight then a full crop is no issue.

For my 3 hens (separated hens- I have 10 in all) I put out 1 and 1/2 cups of feed. They are a healthy weight and I put out only 1 cup if they get a lot of free-range time or lots of scraps.
