well I'm back sorry for all these questions but I'm learning.
First of all my 3 ducks are now living away from the chickens. The roosters were attacking my duck so now the ducks are living in my dead vegetable garden, I'll figure out what to do in the spring. Meanwhile, I hope no critters see there are ducks living in the garden.
Secondly, I got rid of all 3 roosters. So now I have 3 hens. They look good. And, learning from here, I only give them scratchings treats twice a week. The rest of the week I just feed them the chicken food. And I throw in some veggies/fruits when available. Now my question is, I do not see them really eating their food. I put in about a cup for the three. and they might peck at it a little, but I do not see the bowl empty. I have tried feeding it to them as a warm mash, also, they peck at it a little, but there is always leftovers. But yes they will run and eat up the scratchings. I noticed the ducks used to eat up their food too but i have given the ducks the food containers I used to give to the chickens, but I never saw the chickens eat from it so I gave it to the ducks, which I can say they happily use that so I have no worries for the ducks. ducks and chickens are both drinking good. No eggs yet from my hens, they are almost 7 months old, but it is January Jersey right now. they aren't missing their men are they? I have alternated their food to see if its the food but as of 2 weeks ago it was a crumble from Dumor (always been on crumble) from tractor supply then a crumble from Agway brand and no they didn't want it. This time I started with pellets from Nutrena nature wise all flock. Still the same. Not very interested. Anything I can do? Take the food away? By the time I get home they are sleeping and its dark out.
