They have access to food all day. Chickens don't overeat like my dog. They'll eat when they're hungry.

I've always kept their feeder full at all times. When it gets low, I add more.

agreed. Chickens do not over eat like dogs. They will eat what they need. Make sure they always have food

an adult chicken eats 1/4 lb a day apprx.
so have the food there and they will eat it
always have plenty of fresh water for them as it is very important to their health
