I seem to keep finding additional ducks in my collection so I need to expand my night lock up quarters. Currently I have a pallet duck house thing with 4 pekins in it and I'm adding 2 cayugas to it in the next month or so. I'm sure I will get more ducks or hatch some more in the future so it would be nice to have extra room to expand into. The current house is 3x4-5 ft, I can't remember exactly offhand but will measure it tomorrow. Here is a picture of it, I am wanting to expand off the right side.
I don't want to make it any taller because it would block the view of the pond and I think it would look bad to have a large structure there. The current house only has two small access doors so it makes getting eggs very difficult. I am thinking of making a whole hinged side so I can reach in to clean and get eggs easy. So how much coop space does a duck need if they are only locked up at night? Would it be 4 sq ft like chickens?
