I had to explain that to my husband too.. he let the ducks out in the morning and washed the eggs and I had to explain you have to eat it now because it needs the bacteria on the egg to be counter stableI think the problem is that people who do not have ducks see the extra bloom on duck eggs and think that it’s dirty. I watched my mom sit there trying to scrub the bloom off of a duck egg. When I asked her what she was doing she said “I’m trying to get this thick dirty layer off”. I had to explain that it wasn’t dirt, but thick bloom meant to protect the inside of the egg from bacteria and should be left on.
