I have three 16 week old chickens, still on starter feed. . They seem happy and healthy but I am still curious.....how much feed should I be giving them per day, as they grow?

Wow! And that does ok for them? They never gorge? :)

i feed my chickens once early in the morning and once before they are put into the coop each night i use a scoop i got from the feed store and give them a scoop at a time

I give my pen oy 10 layers and Roo 2 coffee cans of layer pellet/crumble mix each morning and let them free range all day.

My pullets I give free choice grower.

I've been doing some reading about different supplements to feed and want to start with that for my layers. I've also read to up the protein you can mix small amouts of cat food in thier feed. I haven't done that yet though.

No they don't gorge, if your chickens or chicks rush to the food dish when you go to feed them and gooble up the food like crazy that means they are hungry, so I don't have chickens or chicks rushing to the food and gobbling it down because the feeder is always full

if i left my feeders full the would make a big mess and my dogs would eat whats left

Be careful with the supplements to much can cause harm. If you are feeding layer feed you shouldn't need supplements. Also to much protien can cause problems to a too fat chicken can have lots of health problems. Mine do free range everyday so they get lots of bugs grasses etc.

i cant let mine free range we have to many predators so every morning they go into a pen that we move around everyday so they can have fresh grass and bugs to scratch at

probably get a better feeder, had the same issue but solved when I bought the poultry feeder from nearby feed store.
