I have 17 hens. I let them out in the a.m. to forage for the day. I usually toss them two cans (soup can size) of scratch in the morning as well. I then feed them fermented feed before they go to bed at night. Is this enough food for them or do I need to add another meal?

Ok, so I would actually decrease the scratch as this is fattening and provides warmth. (The last thing you need in summer heat!) Otherwise, sounds like you are feeding them correctly.

If they are laying well, then it is probably the right amount. That is the best way to judge. As far as the scratch, I feed two cups per day all year long and have never had a problem. Of course you want their main food to be chicken feed & what they can forage on their own. Two soup cans doesn't sound like too much for 17 chickens if they are Campbell' condensed food size & not Chunky soup size!
