Hi I have a question I'm taking my meat birds to get processed tomorrow and I have a couple of people asking me how much would I sell them for? So what is the going rate here in Indiana

$4.50-5.50lb for whole chickens

$8.00-9.00lb for boneless breasts

That's the going rate here, I so t think the price will fluctuate all that much in different areas.

The birds are not cheap to raise, and people expect that price range. We price ours slightly different but it falls within that average. Currently we don't sell any meat by the pound and I don't think I ever will.

Wow, I'm glad I looked on here! I was going to way under price mine! I was trying to think about how much a store bought chicken would cost and charge a little more.
I have butchered a couple of barnyard roosters & compared to my meat chickens I feel like there is hardly any meat there. The barnyard roosters were 12 & 1/2 weeks old. Can anyone tell me about what I should expect to get in pounds of processed chicken per bird? They are crosses of RIR & BSL or RIR & Ameraucanas. Some are straight RIR. Thanks for the help.
