How narrow can a coop be?

So here is my small coop. It’s made from leftover stuff.. it would work for a few bantams I suppose. It’s about a 28” x 28” x 30” cube and a 4’ dog kennel.

The coop is about 22”x 50” , 24”+ tall ... and has 2 nesting boxes about 12” x 22” each. The run is 4.5’ tall and 4’ x 10’.
Oh I should say that it a little tight for 5-7 pound birds ... I’ve house 4 in there and their tails do touch the sides. I bet 6 Bantams would be comfortable in this enclosure.

my last cockerel weighed 5kg. Bantams weigh 500-700g. Quite a bit of difference - some of those coops look like palaces but although a wardrobe would not be too narrow it would disintegrate outdoors within a year. Wardrobes are not suited for that reason otherwise they might work but better to get something that doesn't need to be replaced yearly

Totally agree ... I will never buy a mass produced coop again. In my opinion, They are all poor quality unless ya spend $750 or more, even then, be careful :)

I done 3 feet in width. But the length of the coop was super generous. 3ft W X 20ft L x 5ftTall was the very first coop I made for my bantam paired. Until it had to be demolished and relocated to a smaller pad of 5ft W x 6ft L X 5 ft H.
