How NOT To Dust Chickens With DE

1: Find 5-gallon bucket.

2: Fill said bucket halfway up with DE (Diatremetious Earth, bad spelling)

3: Insert chicken to be dusted into bucket.

4: Close top, shake vigorously.

I felt like doing this after dusting my entire flock today. There was more DE on me than them! At least I'm louse- and mite-free now.......

6: Wear gas mask to filter angry chicken's flinging DE everywhere after opening bucket.

Oh yes, zowieyellowflame, I don't go anywhere near that stuff without wearing a mask, and I use Safer brand, which is supposed to be slightly less harmful.

Oh that is good! Glad to hear!
I just mix DE with gravel and pour into their dust bath areas! Less aggressive control but still better than nothing I guess.
