Hi everyone! I just received 27 chicks from Murray McMurray Hatchery last week and all are happy and healthy - thanks to God!

I have one question in regards to feeding my new chicks...

How often should I change the feed placed in the feeder? They don't quite seem to finish it in one day, so I was wondering ...Can you keep feed in the feeder a couple of days before it goes stale or should it be thrown away every day and refilled just as you do with the waterers?

Thanks!

I leave it til they eat it then refill. I'm sure you'll get tons of opinions on what to do, but that's what I do. It never stays in the feeder longer than a day and a half.

I start with the mason jar ones. as they grow we move up to the long feeders and then to the 7lb ones. I fill every feeder either in the am or pm.....that is to say if I fill it one morning by the next morning, if it's not all gone, I'm filling it that night.

I have 20 chicks and I changed it about every two days. But now that they are about a week and I refill it everday because dang they eat alot!
p.s. I use a plastic feeder

My 5 SL polish are eating me out of house and home! My hubby was like "they had nothing to eat this morning" I was like " I filled the feeders last night!!!"

They eat, sleep and poop! Must be rough!!

Yeah, you're right, haha! That's our "Free Chick". It's a White Crested Black Polish. We don't have a name for him now, but we refer to him as "Puff Head".

I love them!! They are adorable!!

ETA: I also wait till the foods gone before I add more, which os usually every day to day in a half.
