Well...I use a dropping board, which I scrape daily, so I don't get a lot of poop down in the bedding. I have not completely replaced the floor bedding yet (as of this past fall). I scoop up droppings daily, and add fresh bedding about once per month. I'm looking forward to warmer weather and do a total clean out... Oh yeah...I only have five birds, so that helps.

I like your ideas! Having only the 4 chickens out in the coop is not so bad. I will be getting some B C Maran eggs in March. I think we will be adding on to the coop!

Hardly ever. I clean my droppings boards every morning, which helps enormously (also helps with air quality/humidity). Every several months I do some spot-cleaning, mainly of dust from spilled food near the feeder, and add a bit more clean bedding. That's pretty much it. I think I did about a 50% change of my sussex pen about 18 months ago, but don't recall for sure. '

It helps that I have relatively few chickens per pen, so that poo in the bedding has time to sort of disappear rather than getting all matted together with other poo into a nasty glump.

Pat
