Hello
just wandering on Meat chickens if they pick at the ground and need to move the coop daily or weekly .
I have never raised meat bird so want to plan what work is needed .

You'll want to move it once a day, maybe more if possible when they reach the 5 week mark and on. It isn't because they pick at the ground, it's more that the ground will be covered in poo.

The poo piles up fast so we move the coop as often as necessary to keep them on as clean a spot as possible. When they are small (+-) 2wks I think we moved it every day and a half, by 8 weeks we were moving it twice a day. They didn't eat much off the ground. Even spilled feed. After we moved the coop I would sit outside and watch the wild quail run over and clean up after them.

it depends on the number of birds in the pen and the size of the tractor . . . at least once a day is a good rule of thumb.

Well i guess there is always more to everything .I ordered a couple book .I think i need more info before jumping in to this .
thanks for the input
