Hello all! We just got our first baby chicks yesterday. (4 days old today). I was quite unprepared for the "gift", so I am learning as much as I can today. Any handling tips. We have three children who want to hold them every hour or so, our house is a mild 72 degrees, and they go back under the light after about 5-10 minutes. Any reason to limit the handling?

Any and all tips to this new chickie mama are welcome! Thanks

I would give them a day or two to get used to their new digs. You can let the kids interact depending on how old they are. If they are little they can do a "one finger touch" because young children can squeeze them too much.

If they are handled they will be calmer and more like pets.

I'm a total newbie but I have read that it's very important to wash hands before AND after handling, and no kisses!
