I bought some 1 year old hens on Criagslist and I get the feeling they are older. I should have known better but the seller kept insisting they were a year old. They are Barred rocks and RIR. I tried to look at their vents and they are oval, light pink, moist. Is this good? The reason why I think they are 2 and not 1 is because he said " Every 2 years we get new peeps and sell of the older flock"..... Plus he was selling all the birds. He had about 25-30 and I took 10. I took 8 hens and 2 roosters. Their legs are large and thick and have scales but the scales look healthy. Does anyone know where I can find example pictures of young/old hen legs and vents??? I Googled and could not find anything. Their legs are a pale color. Not sure if thats a bad/good sign either. I can post pics tomorrow and if someone can help me that would be great.
