How old do you think she is?

Hi we got this chicken a couple weeks ago. She is a black sex link chicken. The chicken on the right is about 10 and a half week old easter egger. Ive had her since she was a day old. We kind of inherited the black sex link... please tell me what you think.

We opened up a nesting box today because that's right around what we were thinking. She seems to be a lot bigger than my other 6. Thank you!

Somewhere between 14 and 16 weeks. Not quite mature enough for laying.

Do you think it's too soon to open the box? I've read a lot on people keeping them open or keeping them closed. We put a golf ball in the nest area...

The only reason to close up nest boxes is too keep young birds from sleeping in them. Once everybody is roosting, there is no reason to keep them closed off.

Well she will probably start laying at 6 months. I would wait until she starts looking like she will lay an egg soon.
She will probably lay on the ground to start with
