How old should chicks be for sale? I had to buy 25 to get the 12 I wanted. So I was thinking of selling the rest of them that i dont want. Im getting to like all of them though.Thats why I was wondering if there was a sertain time frame . Thanks Scotty

I'm doing the same thing--getting 25 and selling many of them so I can have the ones I want! I just put the word out and have been taking orders from folks for 6 week old chicks. At that age, they are fully feathered and no longer need an incubator. So they can go right into the families' coops, saving them the hassle of setting up a brooder.

I have purchased chicks and hatch chicks. I sell them right away. A lot of it is if you want to recovery your cost. If you sell them as day olds for 50 cents more than you paid for them great. If you keep them for a few weeks, you need to sell them for more to recover the cost of feed. I raise the price as they get older.

Chicks - Day Old - Sexed - $5
Chicks - Day Old - Unsexed - $3
6 Weeks old - Sexed - $8
6 weeks old - Unsexed - $5
3 months old - Pullets - $10
3 months old - Cockerals - $5
6 months old - Laying Hens - $12
6 months old - Cockerals - Well they are not for sale anymore if you know what I mean.
