I am getting more chickens in spring. I am looking at meat birds. What is the best age to send them to freezer camp?

depends on what specific kind of meat bird you get and how big you want it to get.

most people harvest their cornish x around 8 weeks (some at 6, some around 10) and their freedom rangers at 12-14 weeks.
those aren't the only 2 kinds of meat birds, just the 2 most talked about here.

I think it is more by weight. Example - my Cornishx are 5 wks old and a couple of them weigh 4lbs. I will work on their feed to try to get them to 5-51/2 pretty quick so I can process at 6 weeks, and then another group should be that weight by 7wks. (figure to lose about 1 1/2 lbs of "scraps" at processing and I want mostly 4-5lbs of meat)
