How reliable are automatic coop doors?

I did the same back n fourth on getting an automatic coop door! Oh my my why did I wait so long? I love mine! Mine was a little pricey but has worked great and was very easy to install. I bought a ChickCozy door and have had it at least 4 months not one problem. Has a dusk to dark or you can do it by times. Because I have a cover over outside pens I did it by times. Best decision I’ve made!

Are the batteries solar charged? Have you had to replace them? If so are they standard off the shelf batteries?

We bought two auto-doors, both from FarmLite - one for the main coop & pen and one for our mini-quarantine coop & pen (where we put ill hens or pullets before intigrating into the main flock).

NO REGRETS whatsoever!

The customer service is excellent - I reached out to them with the first door to get an electronic copy of the manual, so I could just pull it up on my phone when outside adjusting time and I got a copy in my email within hours. Not a big lift on their part but still the swiftness was awesome.

We have 3 twelve week old pullets in the mini-coop right now and it's so nice to be able to sleep in on the weekends!!!
