I normally dont get annoyed over little things but this just ticks me off.
We had a scheduled visit this morning with a worker from our local Childrens Services Program to fill out an application for an in-home counseling program for DD who some of you may remember is going through a horrible time with anxiety and fear of death.
So, I get the house clean...I mean immaculate..you could eat off of the floor! The chick knocks at the door, DD runs to answer it. I am in the kitchen and holler 'come on in'. She comes in, walking across my then spotless carpets and behind her is a big lumbering young man wearing work boots, which have now ground oodles of mud into my carpet. I do provide a mud rug at the door into our foyer for wiping off shoes...neither of them used it and neither offered to remove their shoes.
We sit down at the table and I look at the young man and she finally introduces him as an intern. OK. He doesnt smile, thank me for allowing him to come in and listen to all of my child's issues which of course include any and all issues that our family may be having....financial, legal etc etc, nor does she ask my permission. He sits there looking around the house, not making eye contact with me at all. I am pretty used to interns having working in Human Services for years and years so I try to break the ice and ask 'So, where are you interning from'. I hear 'Mmm, RRR, Mm', which I was able to translate from mumble to english and come up with the name of a local college.
So, I guess I am peeved over 2 things.
1) bringing all of that mud into my house without so much as an apology
2) bringing a stranger into my home without asking my permission for a professional appointment
Maybe I am super-annoyed because as a home visitor, I would NEVER do that someone else. I feel extremely disrepected.
Grrrr!!!
